Digging into the Genius Blogger's Toolkit

I wouldn’t be writing this if I didn’t considered the Genius Blogger’s Toolkit well worth the price -- for me as well as for my readers here at HypothyroidWriter.com.

I've been looking through my bundle (I bought it early -- affiliate perk), and I'm going nuts! I've found several things, so far, that I was thinking of buying, anyway, and now I have them for less than if I'd bought them separately!

Plus, I've found a bunch of things I hadn't known about, and I'm having a great time going through them all. I could spend all day and much of the night going through all these goodies -- for several days!

So, I knew I had to write something about this and get it published A.S.A.P., so none of you will miss out on the chance to check it out for yourselves.

And if you're a blogger who wants to run it like a business (that you love), you'll want this bundle, too. But just telling you this and saying you'll get X number of high-quality blogging tools probably won't convince you.

It's the grab-bag effect. You've probably, at one point, taken advantage of a discounted grab bag from a bookstore or some other shop and then opened it only to be disappointed by a hodge podge of things you wouldn't have paid good money for -- or even taken for free (I think I was 12 when I ended up with a bag full of Harlequin romance novels. That experience ruined me for grab bags).

This isn't like that. But instead of just giving you a breakdown by category (X number of blogging courses, Y number of ebooks, etc.), I'm going to make this personal by telling you my top five favorite items in this bundle, because until you see what’s in this bundle, you might not be convinced that it’s easily worth at least ten times the price.

Why should you care about my top five favorite blogging goodies in this bundle? Well, I am a blogger, for one thing, and I've committed to making my blog my #1 business this school year.

Last school year, I focused on writing and publishing one book after another. And I had a ball and learned plenty. I now have five books of my own published on Amazon and am earning a few hundred each month in ebook and paperback royalties. That said, I'm not much closer to quitting my part-time job and earning a full-time income with my writing.

This school year -- and, I hope, for years to come -- it's more about the blog. And yes, I'm going by school year rather than calendar year, because I'm a mom with four school-aged kids, and the year is very much broken into school months and summer months. September is our January.

Back to the Genius Blogger's Toolkit, though. Because what blogger doesn't want to be a genius blogger -- making a genius blogger's income?

Most of the links in this post will take you to the Genius Blogger's Toolkit page, where (starting Monday, October 2nd), you can learn more about what's inside and decide whether you're up for the challenge of deciding which are your top five favorite things about the bundle.

Plus, if you're at all interested in affiliate marketing with your blog, this is the best way I've seen so far to get a taste of so many blogging resources and decide for yourself which ones you love enough to promote to others as an affiliate.

It was NOT easy deciding which items belonged to my top 5. I may have wrung my hands a bit, and I know wine was involved at some point.

And for all I know, something that doesn't stand out for me now will become one of my top 5 favorites a month from now. It could happen!

I'm sticking with five, partly for simplicity's sake -- and partly because I don't have enough time to tell you what I love about ten things, before this bundle goes live on Monday October 2nd -- at which point you can hustle on over and buy your own copy before Monday, October 9th comes..

Full disclosure: as an affiliate, I bought it at a discount, and you could do the same, if you sign up as an affiliate and are accepted before the sale runs out. Ultimate Bundles creates bundles throughout the year that are packed with value that far exceeds the cost, so I'm happy to be one of their affiliates, and I'd recommend it to anyone who wanted to try their hand at affiliate marketing.

My interest in the Genius Blogger's Bundle was probably the first thing that made me want to become an Ultimate Bundles affiliate, but when I saw their list of bundles for 2017 and early to mid-2018, I saw others that interested me, too (like their Thyroid Health Super Bundle for February!).

And if I'm going to do a decent job with affiliate marketing, I need products (digital, physical, or both) that I consider well-worth the price (enough that I would buy them myself) -- and therefore worth promoting. The GBT bundle is definitely on that list, and it's one of the few things on that list that cost more than $50.

I don't have an expansive budget, and I don't assume my readers do, either. But some splurges are worth the extra cost.

But on to my top 5 favorites! Here they are, in no particular order:

  1. Affiliate Acceleration: Impactful Strategies to Increase Your Passive Income (course) by Kayla Aimee
  2. Blogging to Win: Modern Blogging Strategies for the Busy Woman (course) by Allison Lindstrom
  3. Blog by Number: Every Busy Mom's Ultimate Guide to Starting a Blog with Suzi Whitford (her signature course and ebook)
  4. ACTIVATE EBA Live (the videos) with Ruth Soukup, et al.
  5. Ready Set Blog for Traffic by Elna Cain

Affiliate Acceleration

I'm going all in on affiliate marketing -- making a solid go of it for at least one year -- so this one caught my eye right away, and I started watching it first. I wasn't disappointed. Kayla Aimee gave me some useful ideas right off the bat, and I started implementing them in my own affiliate marketing efforts. I also found her to be relatable and credible as an instructor.

Blogging to Win

Blogging to Win also has an instructor with an appealing and approachable persona, and the subtitle for her course -- Modern Blogging Strategies for the Busy Woman -- pulled me in. It was when I started listening to it, though, that I knew it would be one of my top five. I've already learned how to create a favicon for my blog, so I no longer see the tiny Bluehost grid icon on my open blog tab.

I created the favicon with Canva, though Allison Lindstrom demonstrates how to create it with PicMonkey. All I needed were the dimensions for the favicon, though (which she gave me), and I was off to Canva to design a simple favicon, which was easy enough to upload in the WordPress Customization window.

This course has so much, and I'll be spending several days going through it all. I've been taking notes, just as I have with Affiliate Acceleration, and working through the exercises, which are well worth the time spent.

Blog By Number

This course and ebook by Suzi Whitford is a bundle in itself, and it's something I was thinking of buying anyway, before I checked out the Genius Blogger's Bundle. I was beyond thrilled to see this on my download page.

ACTIVATE EBA Live (videos)

I've yet to go to a blogging conference -- or to any kind of conference for writers -- because money (or the lack thereof). But when I saw that I could watch all the videos from the 2017 ACTIVATE EBA Conference, I was excited. I even logged in on my phone, so I could listen to the videos when I wasn't at my computer.

Just watching the video for this conference makes me wish I could go, and if I had the means, I would sign up for the 2018 conference in a blink -- and I generally avoid anything with crowds.

This time, at least, I can watch the videos without being in a crowded room, and there's a lot to love about that -- especially if I keep the coffee (or wine) handy.

I can even pretend that someone came by with one of those trays of freshly-filled wine glasses. "Would you like another glass?" "Yes! Yes, I would."

Ready Set Blog for Traffic

I've lost track of how many times I've tweeted or pinned good things from Elna Cain's blog at TwinsMommy.com. I have no trouble believing she could create a course that would help me increase traffic to my blog, and from what I've seen of it so far, I'm so glad it's part of the bundle!

All these goodies -- to say nothing of the flood of other good things that come with the Genius Blogger's Toolbox -- are worth more than the price of the bundle.

I would have paid the full $97 just for these five, and then I would have been floored by all the other things on the download/access page. I can't remember the last time I was this blown away by something I invested in for my blogging/writing business.

Soaking it in & Dreaming

I want to show you so much more. I could easily make a list of my next five favorites and then another five favorites after that. I know, because I've done it (in a Google Doc -- couldn't help myself), because this bundle has got me spinning.

And a month from now, as I work through the long list of blogging resources in this bundle, my top five list might look different from what you see today -- not to disparage the items currently on the list.

I've had to limit myself to opening only three tabs at a time for the courses in the bundle, so I don't get overwhelmed and shut down -- or follow a tangent in one of the courses and get lost. I'll be staying up late tonight reading some of my GBT ebooks (juicy stuff, people!) or listening to some ACTIVATE EBA Conference videos while sipping wine and dreaming of blogging full-time (and doing a brilliant job of it).

It could happen! And the Genius Blogger's Toolkit is a huge step in that direction. A year from now, I'd like to look back on the day I bought this bundle and reflect on all I learned from it and put into practice -- and what it did for my blog and for my monthly blogging income.

And you'd better believe I'll be happy to share more about the things that helped me the most and that could help you, too, with your writing, blogging, and book-making adventures!

I'll keep you posted! 😉

Check out the Genius Blogger's Toolkit for yourself before time runs out on Monday, October 9th.
